European Day of Parks: Tracing the History of a Glacial Valley in the Pyrenees
Celebrate living nature on May 24th. A day to discover the secrets that ice sculpted in our mountains.
Every May 24th, Europe unites to pay tribute to its protected areas, and in Aragon, we celebrate in a big way. We invite you to a unique experience in the Western Valleys Natural Park: an interpretive route where you will learn to read the landscape and understand how ancient glaciers shaped the valleys we explore today.
A Geological Adventure: The Legacy of Ice
Have you ever wondered why our mountains have that characteristic "U" shape? In this guided activity, we will travel thousands of years back in time:
Landscape Interpretation: You will learn to identify the traces of glaciers.
Alpine Biodiversity: We will discover the flora and fauna that inhabit these high mountain ecosystems.
Aragon Natural Network: Get a close look at the conservation work in natural gems like Ordesa, Posets-Maladeta, Moncayo, and the Sierra de Guara.
