Explore and Climb: Mountain Workshops for Children in Cerler
This summer in Cerler, everyone, even the youngest members of the family, can discover the fascinating world of mountains and nature. If you're enjoying a family vacation in the Benasque Valley, the Explore and Climb workshops are the perfect opportunity for your children to take their first steps as mountaineers in a fun, educational, and completely safe way.
Led by a qualified instructor, children will learn a wealth of practical skills useful for navigating the alpine environment. The activity takes place at high altitude, surrounded by the highest three-thousand-meter peaks in the entire mountain range, where they can admire giants of the Pyrenees such as Aneto, Perdiguero, and Posets. And they'll even take home a certificate and a souvenir badge!
What will they learn in the Explore and Climb Workshops?
The workshop content is designed to be dynamic and adapted to high-altitude mountaineering:
Basic mountain gear: Participants will learn how to properly select and organize what to pack in their backpacks before setting out on a hike.
Map reading: A basic introduction to cartography to understand how to interpret routes on paper.
Mini orienteering course: Practical exercises in nature to learn how to orient oneself in the terrain.
Identifying 3,000-meter peaks: Participants will learn to identify the most emblematic and majestic summits of the Benasque Valley.
Progression techniques: Essential tips on how to walk correctly on slopes and basic concepts for learning how to climb safely.
Schedule, Meeting Point, and Conditions
Activity days: Every Tuesday and Saturday during the summer season.
Start time: 10:00 a.m.
Meeting point: Next to the Remáscaro cafeteria, in the access area to the El Molino chairlift. From there, the group will ascend with the guide to an altitude of 2,030 meters.
Approximate duration: 2 hours.
Recommended age: 7 years and up.
Adult guidelines: Children under 12 years old, as well as children shorter than 1.25 meters, must be accompanied by an adult during the chairlift ride up and down.
Price and access: The workshop and guide service are included free of charge; the only requirement to participate is to have previously purchased a ticket for the El Molino chairlift.
Very limited spaces: To ensure personalized attention and maximum safety for the children, the maximum number of participants per workshop is limited to 12.
