MICROMONTAÑA celebrates its 2nd edition with theater surrounded by nature in the Benasque Valley
Twenty microtheater performances will be presented over two days, among the mountains and heritage sites of Cerler, Benasque, and Anciles.
On August 15 and 16, MICRO MONTAÑA returns to the Aragonese Pyrenees, the short, local theater festival that transforms the Benasque Valley into a unique natural setting. Over two full days, a total of 20 performances will be held, spread across Benasque, Cerler, and Anciles, in unconventional formats and surrounded by landscape, architecture, and the outdoors.
The plays have a maximum duration of 15 minutes and will be repeated in several performances, as was the case in the successful first edition last year, allowing the audience to enjoy the program as a scenic tour of the valley, combining culture, nature, and heritage. Each space—a square, a church, a hut, or a viewpoint—becomes a unique setting that enhances the meaning of each play.
Comedy in all its forms (romantic, dark, absurd, and even children's) is the common thread of this edition, which brings together texts by authors such as Susana Mercado and Pedro Pablo Picazo, and companies and artists from all over Spain. As a novelty, this edition will also include performances designed for family audiences. The opening performance will be the play "Partículas Revueltas," aimed especially at children, on August 15 at 12:00 p.m. in Cerler's Plaza Nueva.
Kimera Teatro, the event's organizer, is also taking over the artistic direction, coinciding with the company's 15th anniversary. This event is supported by the Benasque City Council, the Huesca Provincial Council, and valley organizations such as Casa Suprián and Pirineo Literario.
Admission to the plays is free, although seating is limited due to the intimate format of each performance. Therefore, we recommend arriving at each venue at least 10 minutes before the start of the performance.
The organizers invite all valley residents and visitors to attend and enjoy this special cultural initiative, which also highlights the landscape and surroundings of this privileged area.
Culture, nature, and sustainable tourism come together in this initiative, which is celebrating its second edition after the great success of the previous edition. No one should miss it!
