The Pilar Livestock Fair celebrates its forty-third (43rd) edition in Benasque on October 11 and 12, 2025. This centuries-old celebration traditionally took place when cattle returned from spending the summer in the high mountain pastures. Although the fair was temporarily discontinued in the mid-20th century, it was revived in the 1980s, and in previous editions, the livestock exhibition was accompanied by cultural and tourist activities such as exhibits, art shows, children's entertainment, and a craft market.
Unfortunately, this year's livestock exhibition and fair could not be held due to the viral disease Bluetongue. This disease affects domestic and wild ruminants, transmitted by the bite of Culicoides mosquitoes. Its spread, along with restrictions on livestock movement, have made the traditional celebration in Benasque impossible.
However, to keep the tradition alive, complementary activities have been organized so everyone can celebrate this special edition.
