A short but intense climb from Eresué takes you to a spot that many in the valley consider their own: the chapel of Santa Margarita. Up there, time seems to stand still and the entire valley unfolds beneath your feet, from the villages to the great peaks. A circular walk that combines landscape, memory and a viewpoint that justifies every step.
The excursion begins in Eresué, a small village in the Benasque Valley that retains the peaceful rhythm of life at high altitude. From its cobbled streets, a path winds its way uphill, offering increasingly spectacular views and silence as we move away from the village centre.
The path crosses high meadows that are filled with colour and sound in summer. Upon reaching the forest, the trail becomes more enclosed and somewhat more demanding, but soon gives way to an esplanade where the chapel of Santa Margarita stands, discreet and well oriented. It is a special place, with deep significance for those who live or have lived in Eresué, and with a location that seems chosen for looking far into the distance.
From there, the view opens up to the south: El Turbón, the Ventamillo gorge, the reliefs that box in the valley; to the north: the Eriste reservoir, the village of Benasque and the great Pyrenean ridges that mark the border.
The return journey is along the same mountain, completing a circular route which, without being too demanding, offers a complete view of the surroundings, combining landscape, local history and a unique perspective on the territory.
